When I was passing by one of Selfridges’ shoe departments last Saturday afternoon,  I noticed some guy trying on the flashiest, the most colourful and the pinkiest  (if one can describe colours this way) trainers I have ever seen – my kind of man, I thought. I looked at him second time and only then I realised that this was really happening and that it was not a joke. I did not stare at him – I usually don’t do this to people, so I kept on browsing the shoe haven when he suddenly approached me and said that I looked as someone who knew his fashion and asked me whether those shoes looked stupid on him. He wanted me to behonest so I told him that he should have taken them.Westminster fashion

The main concern of this chap was whether he would look stupid at his age and he did not want people to think that he was trying too much to be too cool and young. I did not mention that he was probably in his late fifities, but does this really matter? He felt that the shoes were his cup of tea, but he instantly showed some reservations and objections worrying about being perceived as the odd one in the crowd. Thank God for his wife who was actually encouraging him to get them. Should this always be the case that we need someone to tap our shoulders as a symbol of their support? We often worry too much about being perceived as the ‘different’ one, so we tend to stick with the crowd and copy its patterns, knowing that we are actually not very happy with the whole set up. I catch myself doing this too, and it really bugs me that the society tries to put some constraints not only on our fashion choices, but the whole life, for instance…

The shoes the guy was trying on were Louboutin shoes and, when I was talking to him, it suddenly clicked that he was a celebrity whose name I could not remember, I am afaraid…
Christian Louboutin
Christian Louboutin is a French born designer whose professional designing career started with Charles Jourdan. After some time Louboutin started collaborating with Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Maud Frizon as a freelance designer and it was not until 1991 when Princes Caroline of Monacco became Louboutin’s first high-end customer of his soon to become famous brand. Since then, Louboutin shoes have been seen on feet of celebrities all over the world.
Christian Louboutin
Louboutin brand has been rapidly growing since 1991 but was only creating shoes for ladies and in 2011 the brand extended its collection to men’s shoes as well. As well, as women’s shoes, Louboutin  men’s shoes are all about making an impact on its customer, which is the brand’s main motto, and they do not fail to shock, impress or astound Louboutin’s audience. It’s all about standing out, feeling confident and being adventurous.

I certainly am a big fan of Louboutin designs and his bold use of colours and materials. The new collection available on-line  oozes with character. It’s confident, playful, full of attitude and elegance as well. It is so versatile that some of the pieces could be a great addition to a simple black suit or, as in the case of the shoes that the celebrity guy was trying on, simple pair of jean and a T-shirt. Personally,  I would match the mentioned pair of shoes with burgundy or pink chinos and a dark shirt or jumper…
